Kate Moulène
CEO, River LA
Kate Moulène is the CEO of River LA, a leading non-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing the 51 miles of the Los Angeles River corridor. Kate also serves as a Commissioner on the California Water Commission (appointed by Governor Newsom) and previously served as a Commissioner of the Los Angeles Water Review Board (appointed by Supervisor Solis).
River LA recently finished work on the new Los Angeles Master Plan alongside architect Frank Gehry, Olin landscape team, and GeoSyntec; and is now focusing on launching the capital campaign for The “Friends of Taylor Yard” project, the largest park and open space undertaken in Los Angeles in over 100 years. River LA was also granted a state OEP – Outdoor Equity Grant for the city of Compton ensuring students from underserved communities are engaged in the resources of parks and outdoor programs surrounding them.
Prior to River LA, Kate was the Founder and CEO of Capian Enterprises where she organized over 40 initiatives and public/private partnerships on behalf of multiple nonprofits, corporations, and community leaders. Her programs created over 3 billion worldwide media impressions and raised tens of millions of dollars.
As the Co-Founder and CEO of the Global Creative Forum, Kate developed the program that brought United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on his first two official trips to Los Angeles where he was joined by President Bill Clinton.
Other campaigns and events Kate developed have integrated dozens of corporate clients alongside participants including Leonardo DiCaprio, Scarlett Johansson, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Michael Douglas, Orlando Bloom, Justin Timberlake, John Mayer, Robert Downey Jr., Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder, Sean Penn, Demi Moore, Jay-Z, Ben Affleck, Sam Jackson, Ashton Kutcher, Nicole Kidman, Ed Norton, Kiefer Sutherland and Usher.
A visionary leader, Kate was credited by the lead attorney on the “Defense of Marriage Act” U.S. Supreme Court Case for bringing together the legal team that led the successful DOMA decision, and, was featured in “100 Making A Difference”, a book that highlights the most impactful activists, advocates, and celebrities in the world.
Kate has five children. Having adopted several children she is a passionate advocate of children’s rights. She holds both a U.S. and an E.U. citizenship. She has an AB from Vassar College.
