Valerie Allen is a media relations and events specialist with more than sixteen years of entertainment public relations and marketing experience.   Before opening her own firm, Valerie was a senior executive in Burson-Marsteller’s Technology practice where she ran multi-million dollar high-tech accounts including BtoB e-commerce company, Transora, and enterprise software company Avanade.

As Director of Corporate Communications at drDrew.com, Allen handled all strategic corporate communications, launch events and media relations. She was also responsible for developing Dr. Drew’s extensive personal publicity into a cohesive, results-driven program impacting the web site. Media placements include the New York Times, USA Today, Oprah, Good Morning America, the Today Show, the CBS Early Show, CNN, 48 Hours and many others.

At Rogers & Cowan, Allen worked as a director supervising a staff of 4 in both the Motion Picture and Interactive Marketing divisions.  She became immersed in the exploding dot-com world and spearheaded publicity efforts for WhatsHotNow.com, Tutornet.com, Dunk.net and Priceline.com. as well as working with clients in film, television, and music, including The WB Radio Music Awards, the re-launch of Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars, Supercross at the L.A. Coliseum, and an entertainment component for Coca-Cola.

Allen was a Senior Account Executive at Davidson & Choy Publicity where she spearheaded arts and entertainment accounts including numerous touring theater productions.  National book campaigns include The Jewels of Tessa Kendt by Judith Krantz (Crown).  Other notable projects include the Academy Awards 69th and 70th Governors Balls, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art Van Gogh Exhibit, and LACMA’s annual Art of the Palate fundraising dinners.  Her food and restaurant experience includes coordinating publicity for the annual Share Our Strength charity event, ongoing public relations for Restaurant Associates West Coast catering operations and their two restaurants, Otto’s and Impresario’s at the L.A. Music Center.

Allen garnered television publicity experience at 20th Century Fox with such projects as, “Martin”, “In Living Color” and the BRAVO Awards. While at FASE Productions in Los Angeles, Ms. Allen not only held producing responsibilities for several award-winning children’s programs on PBS, but also planned and executed national marketing and publicity campaigns, critics press tours, and trade shows.

Prior to her work in public relations, Allen was a freelance journalist reporting on community issues for several East Coast newspapers and was an associate producer for WPVI-TV, the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia, where she worked on several magazine formatted shows and specials including “Best of the Class.”  

Allen earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Communications from Ithaca College in New York and a Masters degree in Journalism from Temple Universtiy in Philadelphia.  She is a two-time recipient of the prestigious George Foster Peabody Broadcasting Award, and a member of the Entertainment Publicists Professional Society.  She is also a partner of   www.ladieswholaunch.com.  Ms. Allen is a resident of Santa Monica, California, where she lives with her husband and daughter.
