Valerie Allen is a media relations and marketing communications specialist with more than eighteen years of entertainment industry experience. Her many clients include on-going personal publicity for celebrity like Dr. Drew Pinsky (9 years) , actress Brigitte Nielsen, and Dr. Gadget, television experts like celebrity beauty expert Darrell Redleaf, financial services lawyer Ron Geffner, criminal defense attorney Alison Triessl, psychiatrist Dr. Charles Sophy and others. She is the show publicist for the hit Reality TV series Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew on VH1 and represents UCLA Live 2009 season, Pasadena Recovery Center and West Coast Jewish Theater. Valerie recently completed a national book tour for Dr. Drew and Dr. Mark Young that landed their book, The Mirror Effect: How Celebrity Narcissism Is Seducing America, on the New York Times Bestseller List.
She has planned and executed many national author book tours, high profile Hollywood events, launched campaigns for television shows, and has managed the reputations of celebrity clients. Over the years she has developed strong relationships with top tier media including national morning shows, daytime and nighttime talk shows, radio, and print media. From the NY Times to Oprah to Larry King Live, Valerie has successfully secured strategic media for her clients.
Before opening her own firm in 2001, Valerie held senior level positions at public relations powerhouses Burson-Marsteller and Rogers & Cowan. She also headed up publicity at DrDrew.com. Prior to that she was a senior account executive at Davidson & Choy Publicity and garnered television publicity experience at 20th Century Fox Television.
While at FASE Productions in Los Angeles, Valerie held marketing and producing responsibilities and won a Peabody Award for FUTURES with Jamie Escalante, a children’s programs on PBS. She planned and executed national marketing and publicity campaigns, critics press tours, and trade shows.
Prior to her work in public relations, Valerie was a freelance journalist reporting on community issues for the Philadelphia Inquirer and Center City Star. She was an associate producer for WPVI-TV, the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia, where she worked on several magazine formatted shows and specials including “Best of the Class.” Valerie earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Ithaca College Park School of Communications in New York and a Masters degree in Journalism from Temple University’s Annenberg School in Philadelphia. She is a two-time recipient of the prestigious George Foster Peabody Broadcasting Award, and a member of the Entertainment Publicists Professional Society.
